 For the year 2001, we set out to create a significantly Australian version
of the popular calendar. Named the “Celebrate Australia Edition” the 2001
calendar is a showcase not only for the hottest bikini models in this sunburned country,
but one that also reflects many of the internationally known “Aussie icons” as
well. While we couldn’t get
Crocodile Dundee to pose for a shot, we still managed to capture some of the unique beauty
and lifestyle of “Down Under”. Rebecca Ranclaud.
 A lifesaver guarding one of the miles and miles of unspoiled beaches the country
is so famous for, boiling Billy Tea by the Billabong, working up a sweat in the sugar cane
fields, catching a wave on the surfboard and hitting the road in a classic Holden Ute
complete with the compulsory dog on the back tray!
To achieve all this, we were lucky enough to be invited to the KoHuna Beach Resort in
Mackay on the Queensland coast in the spectacular Whitsunday region.
 We ended up
finding all the locations we could have wished for and more. From the quaint Leap Hotel to
the wide, stunning beaches and the vast sugar cane fields this area is so well known for.
The Leap Hotel turned out to be a veritable treasure trove of Australiana, historical
memorabilia and general bric-a-brac where the locals quickly assembled for a cold beer
when word got around that there were some of them bikini girls posing at their local. |
