After missing our on the top title at last year’s Zoo Weekly Calendar final, 20 year old Sunshine Coast based head-turning brunette Serina Langlands now officially owns the prestigious title - Zoo Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar Model Of The Year after beating 27 of Australia’s elite bikini models for the coveted title in Surfers Paradise recently. 

More than 1,500 hopeful models from all over the nation had entered the massive four-month long preliminary search held simultaneously at premier entertainment venues around in all states, but only 28 made it through to the end. 

While on the Gold Coast, all National Finalists took part in an exhaustive professional photographic shoot. The resulting pictures will be featured in the spectacular 2009 ZOO Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar - Australia's highest selling glamour wall calendar.

The girls’ fun-filled and action packed week on the Gold Coast culminated with the sensational National Final at Melbas on the Park on Friday 20th June and the battle was well and truly on for the coveted national title and the opportunity to score a cover and inside feature shoot with ZOO Weekly magazine. The famous club was packed to the rafters and many patrons queuing up outside had to be turned away. By beating the bevy of beauties, Serina is now guaranteed her very own month in the 2009 calendar. She further won a professional website from PacNet Multimedia.

Serina is 176cm tall with green eyes and she works as a New Home Sales Consultant. She represented Kings Beach Tavern, Caloundra where she won her preliminary finals.

The runner-up was Carmen Cassin, 19, representing Brighton Hotel, Sandgate. The Encourgament award ended up being a tie between Melbas on the Park representative Amanda Hinchcliffe, 20, and Tegan Woodford, 19, representing Fitzy’s Waterford.

 The 2009 edition of the Zoo Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar will be on sale in newsagents and gift shops throughout Australia and New Zealand from September. This edition will set a new Australian record for the highest number of stunning models ever featured in a wall calendar as all models in the national final will be featured inside the glossy publication. It will be up to the buyers to vote for their favourite model in the calendar and she will receive a trip to the Miss Calendar Girl World Finals in the Bahamas.
