After strutting her stuff on the catwalk in stiff competition with a bevy of the nation’s hottest swimwear models at the recent Zoo Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar final in Surfers Paradise, 19 year old Sunshine Coast based blonde bombshell Rachael Gorry now officially owns the sought after title - Zoo Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar Model Of The Year

More than 1,500 hopeful models from all over the nation had entered the four-month long preliminary search held simultaneously at premier entertainment venues around the nation, but only the top 20 made it through to the end.

While on the Gold Coast for the finals, all National Finalists took part in a professional photographic shoot. The resulting pictures will be featured in the sizzling 2010 ZOO Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar.  In between their photo shoots, the models were also treated to the best that the coast has to offer including visits to Dreamworld, White Water World and many other attractions such as Infinity, Draculas Haunted House, The Fly Coaster, The Slingshot and Bungee Australia. A special dinner was hosted for the finalists at Satin Lounge & Bar Restaurant at Broadbeach.

The girls’ fun-filled and action packed week culminated with the National Final at Melbas on the Park on Friday 19th June and the battle was well and truly on for the coveted national title and the opportunity to score a cover test shoot and inside feature shoot with ZOO Weekly magazine. The judging panel which included last year's winner - Serina Langlands and recently crowned Miss Zoo Weekly Calendar Girl Australia - Jerusha Tuart, had their work cut out for them, but after watching the girls compete in two section - Clubwear and Swimwear, a winner emerged. By beating the bevy of beauties, Rachael is now guaranteed her very own month in the 2010 calendar. She further won a professional website from PacNet Multimedia and she will be the featured model on next year’s competition posters.

Rachael is 173cm tall with green eyes and she works as a bank teller. She represented Sands Tavern, Maroochydore where she won her preliminary finals.

The first runner-up was Maddy Kyle, 21, representing Melbas, Surfers Paradise, while Domenica Grasso representing 3 Monkey Bar, Bunbury, WA, grabbed the second runner-up position.

The 2010 edition of the Zoo Weekly Australian Swimsuit Calendar will be on sale in newsagents and gift shops throughout Australia and New Zealand from September. It will be up to the buyers to vote for their favourite model in the calendar and she will receive a trip to the Miss Calendar Girl World Finals in the Bahamas.
