For Rachaels shot, Dean had something quite unusual in mind. He wanted
her on the back of a ute, with a few other models behind her with the hands and legs tied.
Sounds more than a little kinky, I know but it came out great. (This guy obviously
has some major issues to work through with his therapist
). Katie was going to be
shot in a canoe and we searched long and hard for the most leech-infested rainforest creek
we could find and we found Lacy Creek. It was actually a stunning area and between shots,
we even spotted a Cassowary (a huge bird that the area is known for). The Cassowaries can
be quite aggressive and have been known to cause severe injuries to mostly German tourists
who refuse to hand over their fruit or sandwiches etc.. Luckily, our shoot was incident
free until the little bench Katie was supposed to sit on in the canoe gave up and she
dropped to the bottom of the vessel with a worrying thud
.
Luckily, the emergency medical response team (actually our
make-up artists Leigh and Sharna) were quickly on the scene and skillfully managed to
cover any bruising.
Then it was time for Danielles shoot. It took place on the picturesque
beach at Lugger Bay. It was actually a re-shoot. We had attempted the shot once before,
but the weather was not playing its part. For the first shoot, Dean wanted three of the
other models buried in the sand around Danielle. It was so windy and cold that by the time
we had managed to position and cover the last of the models with sand, the first one was
going into shock purely from exhaustion. The disappointment was noticeable, but in the end
Dean had no choice but to call off the shoot. Fortunately the day at Lugger Bay turned out
to be much more pleasant and productive.
